Introduction to SACT

Course Outline

This two-day course provides foundational knowledge and skills for those who are involved in the safe and effective delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT). It includes basic biology of cancer, how it develops and spreads, principles of SACT and its role in cancer treatment. Other key topics include safe handling and administration of SACT, toxicities of treatment and management of SACT emergencies such as extravasation,
spillage and SACT related infusion and injection reactions.

This course will assist those involved in the care of patients receiving systemic treatments develop their knowledge, skills, confidence and competence. It will also be of benefit to individuals who are completing the UKONS Digital SACT Passport as the content relates to different theoretical sections of the passport.

Audience

This course is designed for all those registered and unregistered healthcare professionals new to the field of systemic anti-cancer therapy who wish to develop their knowledge and skills of this complex area of cancer treatment.

Delivery Format

This course is delivered as a face-to-face workshop. It involves a variety of interactive sessions including case studies, problem solving scenarios, quizzes and group discussion.

Our prices vary based on how you will be attending the course. This course is fully funded for staff from the Velindre Cancer Service. If you are not Velindre Cancer Service staff, the costs will be as follows:
