Velindre Oncology Academy at UKONS 2025
The Velindre Oncology Academy thoroughly enjoyed attending the 20th Annual Conference of the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS), held at the International Convention Centre. UKONS 2025 was a fantastic opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the cancer pathway, including professionals working in primary care, secondary care, acute oncology, education and cancer support services.
Academy Hosts First Immunotherapy Study Day
Velindre Oncology Academy recently hosted its first Immunotherapy Study Day, bringing together healthcare professionals to explore and gain an understanding of immunotherapy and toxicity management. The event provided an opportunity for learning, discussion, and collaboration, with expert speakers sharing insights into the evolving role of immunotherapy in oncology care.
Funded Genomics Training
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) offers funded genomics training for NHS Wales staff, including MSc-level modules and a six-part e-learning programme. Delivered in partnership with Cardiff and Bangor Universities, these flexible online courses cover cancer, infectious disease, pharmacogenomics, bioinformatics, and more, empowering healthcare professionals to integrate genomic medicine into patient care.
